The Waggle Mail First Aid Kit is designed to help keep your pets happy, healthy, and safe. Filled with dozens of pet first aid essentials hand-picked by our resident veterinarian, these kits are perfect for the home, car, and wherever your travels may take you.
Our first aid kits contain the following items:
Bandage scissors
- We chose scissors with an angled cutting blade and a rounded blunt tip to avoid irritating wounds. These scissors are great for cutting dressings, gauzes, tapes, bandages, and splints.
Basic bandaging supplies such as i.) Square gauze
- Made of a soft rayon/poly blend, these latex-free gauzes are super absorbent—perfect for cleaning wounds or applying compression, ii.) Sterile telfa pad
- We chose these pads because they’re non-adherent, which means no pain when it’s time to remove. Use your bandage scissors to cut the pad to the size of the affected area, and iii.) Conforming stretch gauze
- This knitted bandage provides slight compression to the site and keeps the telfa pad firmly in place. If your dog is in acute pain, wrapping a long strand around their muzzle can help prevent biting
Coloured cohesive flexible bandaging
- This bandaging is water resistant, soft, and breathable. Apply loosely as it provides firm support by sticking to itself.
Adhesive tape
- A durable cloth tape with a gentle adhesive that leaves minimal residue on your dog’s skin. Use this to tape a bandage in place and avoid slippage.
Tweezers
- This multi-purpose tool will help you remove anything from splinters to ticks.
Gloves
- To prevent irritation (for your hands and for your dog), gloves are latex- and powder-free.
Syringe prefilled with sterile saline
- These single-use syringes are latex- and PVC-free and can be used to flush eyes, mouths, or painful wounds like hot spots.
Diphenhydramine tablets
- A must-have for unexpected reactions to bug bites and stings. The correct dosage is dependent on the size of your dog. Talk to your veterinarian to find out when and how much to administer.
Styptic powder or styptic silver nitrate sticks
- These work wonders for managing superficial bleeding of the skin or nails. For a broken, bleeding nail, apply pressure with gauze and then add powder or apply pressure with a stick
3% hydrogen peroxide
- Can be used to induce vomiting following ingestion of foods or other potentially harmful substances. Because dosing is size dependent, you should always check with your veterinarian or local poison center before administering.
